Ukraine – Russia – relationships of orphans and church.
In March 17-19 in Donetsk Christian University the vital conference both for Russia and for Ukraine took place. The organizers of it were the national net of Christian organizations in the work with Risk kids as well as the American mission The CoMission for Children at Risk. The East Europe conference on problems of mutual relations of orphans and church had a calling to motivate churches of the most various denominations to become active in adoption of children from the state boarding schools. Closing of boarding schools because of absence of orphans should become global vision and an ultimate goal of evangelical churches of Russia and Ukraine. Christians can and should become those who takes these children in their families. «In Ukraine in houses of family type ( foster homes) presently about 7000 orphans live», - Nikolay Kuleba, the chief of service on affairs of children of Kiev told. He showed the statistics and its symbolism has shaken all the audience. The matter is that the number of children in boarding schools coincides with the number of Evangelical churches in Ukraine. Conference was started with the message of the pastor of Church of Good Changes in Mariupol Gennady Mokhnenko. The sermon «Walk with a cross necklace» in which there was a caution that in modern Christianity there's a dangerous bent for comfort. And after all who but church should be in pain, in problem? And only in such a way it is possible to keep church alive. The theme was continued by Kozitsky Michael - the pastor of the Pentecostal church of the city Тоsnо in the Leningrad region. Pastor Michael, having two adopted children, shared how to bring revelation about adoption in the church. The conference schedule was overwhelmed - 4 sermons and 2-3 seminars a day. And the result of it -the unity of churches in this question, despite a wide spectrum of the denominations presented at the conference. A problem of the orphanship and the adoption theme in the friendly countries promoted the announcement of armistice among such different denominations as Baptists, Pentecostals, Charismatics, Adventists and many others. Visitors from the United States of America represented the projects of ministry to children, as in the territory of the former Soviet Union, as in their homeland. They represented the ministry to children - invalids in Saint- Petersburg, shared the experience of service to children with disabilities in South Carolina, and also some skills of children's service in Atlanta, Georgia and in Orange County, California. The revelations that an adopted child is happiness which cannot be bought for any money, shared Sergey Demidovich, Peter and Tamara Dudnik, and also Susen Hillis (the project “The CoMission for Children at Risk”). The testimonies of the workers who adopted orphans often resulted in tears on audience’s eyes. The general response about conference was not simply positive, it was original base for the movement of total adoption among Christians to capture both Ukraine and Russia. In the third day the delegates could choose Mariupol, Donetsk or Slavyansk to see the local ministries (the Christian children's centers, and also foster families) personally.
